Testing,
Testing for HIV/AIDS

You can obtain
an HIV test through a simple blood test (Elisa) at the offices of Dr. Karen Sandler
at her conveniently located Beverly Hills office. With our own lab on the premises, you are assured
the utmost privacy. You can even have an HIV test without your name attached to
the blood sample. If confidentiality is your prime concern, take advantage of
what a solo private practice HIV specialist like Dr. Sandler can offer. After
engaging in high-risk behavior, the incubation period is approximately one month.
Results usually take a few days. If the HIV test is negative, get tested again within
three months, six months, and one year after exposure. If the HIV test is positive, a follow up
confirmation test with a Western Blot blood test is automatically
done on the same blood sample. Results generally take just a few days. If you
cannot wait for the one--month incubation period and require instant knowledge,
a much more expensive test-the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)--can be done after
ten days of the initial high-risk behavior. The test costs around $300. Everyone
who has an HIV test in Dr. Karen Sandler's office will be contacted personally
with the results. If test results are positive, she follows up with a personalized appointment for you to better understand HIV and AIDS information, HIV/AIDS symptoms, treatment options, and current AIDS research.
Acting
responsibly and getting tested will give you peace of mind about AIDS/HIV.
